우리는 인천의 세 공간을 걷는다. 그리고 각 공간마다 마주한 것들을 수집한다. 그렇게 모인 흔적들에서 채취한 미생물을 배양한다. 자라난 미생물 중 곰팡이를 중심으로 세 공간에 대응하는 세 개의 배양접시 위에 그 포자를 옮겨, 살아있는 기억들로 각 공간을 재구성한다.
포자가 표면과 접촉해 생기는 이 기억들이 전제하는 접촉의 감각을, 시각 자료 뿐 아니라 또 다른 감각적 가능성으로 전환한다. 살아있는 기억에 대한 다양한 감각적 기록이, 관람자의 기억에서도 다채로운 형태와 기억으로 살아있기를 바랐다.

We walk through three spaces in Incheon and collect the things we encounter in each space. The microorganisms collected from the traces are cultured. The spores of the grown microorganisms, mainly fungi, are transferred onto three petri dishes corresponding to the three spaces, reconstructing each space with living memories.
The sense of touch that these memories presuppose, as the spores come into contact with the surface, is transformed into another sensory possibility, not just a visual one. I wish the various sensory records of living memory to live on in the viewer’s memory in various forms.

우리는 인천의 도심 공원, 거주자와 드나드는 인구가 많은 주거지, 그리고 바다와 인접한 공장단지 부근, 이렇게 세 공간을 걷고 마주하는 것들을 수집했다. 이 세 공간을 각각 대문자 알파벳 기호 A, B, C로 지칭한다.

We walked through three spaces in Incheon: a city park, a residential neighborhood with a high number of residents coming and going, and a factory complex near the sea. These three spaces are referred to as capitalized alphabetical symbols A, B, and C.

각 공간에서 수집한 흔적들에서 미생물을 채취해 총 9개의 배지에 접종했다. 이들을 소문자 알파벳으로 지칭한다. (a~i) 9개의 배지마다 각각 대표 곰팡이를 선택했다.

Microorganisms were collected from the traces in each space and inoculated into nine different badges. These are referred to with a lowercase alphabet. (a to i) Representative fungi were chosen for each of the nine badges.
